Today I am going to explain to
you why actually giving away for
FREE... any salon service
is the best marketing tool you
will ever, ever, EVER need in
your busy salon life!
In
fact I will show you how doing
salon services for FREE will
uncover a stack of brand new
profits for your salon.

Making Money With Free!
Lets assume you have a new
stylist or therapist starting on
Monday. She has come from
another area and won't be
brining clients to the salon
with her.
You know you need a new stylist
however you know it'll cost you
money until she gets busy.
New stylist does this ... She
waits around the desk and when a
client walks in, if she is free,
she services the salon client.
You know that scenario, right?
And that is what usually happens
in most salons until she
eventually (after 12 months)
gets her own busy column. You
agree, we've all seen that
right?
So
let me take you through just one
way of using FREE in your salon
and making a bucket load of cash
for your salon at the same time.
Lets say ... FREE Haircuts (this
can be used with ANY salon
service)
Step 1.
It's critical you make sure the
stylist understands exactly why
she is going to be doing some
FREE hairdressing. If you don't
explain it, she like 99% of
stylists will be happy to make
you no money, sat in the back
room swigging coffee all week as
long as she gets paid on
Saturday!
So
the first step is...
Explain exactly why you are
doing the free stuff with her.
Why are you doing it for free?
You are offering to give away
your stylists time so clients
can SAMPLE her services amazing
services (she'd better be good).
If
she delivers on the promise (the
promise is she does a great job)
during her free service the
client will come back for more.
Dead simple.
Again... you are offered a free
sample from a local store on the
basis that you like it and will
be happy to switch brands. See
how easy this is? In a sec I am
going to show you how to get
cash from your free clients so
bear with me.
Step 2.
Now explain to the stylist that
the whole purpose of doing this
for FREE is so she knocks the
client dead with brilliant
hairdressing. Explain to the
stylist the whole reason is to
get her to come again into your
salon and her column.
It's critical you explain it
like this to your team member
otherwise she simply won't get
it. I should know I have
employed enough lazy-arsed
stylists over the years to know
what goes on in the coffee laden
heads!
Step 3.
Go
over a PROFESSIONAL CONSULTATION
with your stylist. What does
this mean? It means the stylist
doesn't walk up to the client,
stand behind them at the styling
chair and say in the monotone,
can't be bothered way... "what
are we doing to your hair
today?"
Your new stylist has to know
what a consultation actually is
(most stylist haven't got a clue
but this is essential you know
so they know).
IF, if, if you get the
consultation right... you'll
uncover a stack of cash in your
salon and FREE hairdressing or
salon services will make you a
huge amount of new profits!
So
how does the consultation work
then?
Ok
it's a little bit like this...
(note: I go into more depth in
Salon Column Builder)
Client comes into the salon for
the first time on the promise of
a FREE salon service.
The mindset of any getting
something for free is slightly
guilty especially if they are
happy. Because they feel like
this, before you say a word they
will be wanting to part with
some cash.
So
if their consultation is great
your new stylist should be able
to say something like ...
"
...Okay we have decided on your
brand new hairstyle today but
can I say this.... what will
really take it from looking
great to looking drop dead
gorgeous would be a flash of
color. Would you like me to do
that for you while you are
here?"
Just to make absolutely sure she
says YES you also say to her...
"if you have it done now I will
get the boss to give you some
discount on the color while you
are new to our salon, will that
be okay for you?"
I
guarantee... 95% of the clients
will say yes! If and when they
do what has happened? You have
taken your FREE client and
turned her into a paying client.
Right?
See how easy that was?
Now lets do some math here and
PROVE that FREE salon services
will easily increase your salon
takings!
Here we go again.
FREE client comes in for a
free haircut and finish.
She spends not a cent more on
the day yet ... she is happy and
comes in again and again. In
fact she sticks with your salon
for the next 5 years!
Every visit on average after her
first free haircut she spends on
average $70 each time. She also
uses your salon on average 6
times a year.
That's $420.00 a year from one
single client.
Multiply that number by 5
(years) that's $2,100 from your
free client.
Now lets say you start a
campaign in your salon where you
decide to do a minimum of 10
free services a week for a
while.
That's brings in a total of 520
new clients for your hair and
beauty salon business.
Do
you realize how much cash you
have just uncovered for your
salon over 12 months?
A
massive ... $36,400 increase in
salon turnover! That's just to
start with. I have built all of
my salons using FREE services.
We of course used a slightly
expanded version of the above
that quadrupled our salon
turnover in that same period!
